Aubignan

An ancient fortified village, Aubignan is a must-see for history-lovers: it features remains of the town's ramparts and their gates, a wrought iron clock tower, the church of Saint Victor, the chapel Saint-Sixte, the ancient Hôtel Dieu (an early hospice). The mountain range of the Dentelles de Mirail is close by, with numerous trails and rock climbing spots. There are also a great many prestigious vineyards and domains in the vicinity : Beaumes de Venise, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Cairanne, Châteauneuf du Pape …

What to see, what to visit: The Carpentras canal, the small lake of the Étang du Moulin Neuf, the Mont Ventoux.
