A calm and peaceful small town at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, close to Vaison la Romaine, Orange and Carpentras. The river Ouvèze runs through it, and it is always refreshing to walk along its banks or to swim in its clear waters. The vineyards of Violès produce rich and generous wines, with the Appellation of Côtes du Rhône. Mid-July sees the annual Fête des Vins, during which the streets are adorned with the flags and colours of the Provence of old, and you can lose yourself in the traditional music and dances of the local bands and groups. During August, the Journée Vigneronne will transport you back in time, as you sample the local wines and discover the ancient customs of the region.
