Part of the ancient medieval community of Pennafort, the village of Callas is in the heart of the Var, halfway between the coast and the Gorges du Verdon. Extremely picturesque, it is built onto the side of a hill, dominated by the ruins of its ancient castle. Surrounded by a wild and rocky countryside and a vast forest where you will find the Pennafort chapel. There is also the Saint-Auxile chapel which plays host to the yearly Festival of Ancient music of Callas (second half of July).

What to see, what to visit: the Lac de l'Écureuil, the gorges du Pennafort; the waterfalls of Sillans; the chapel of Saint-Honorat; the Greco-Byzantine dome; the Saracen tower of the chapel of Pennafort; the chapel of Saint-Auxile (12th – 13th century).
Recommended activities: walks, donkey rides.
